Located in Highlands, Lucina Midwives offers people both a clinic as well as a birth centre so they can have the delivery experience that is best for them. The group adheres to three basic pillars: you should have your choice of birthplace, you have the right to informed consent, and you should experience continuity of care from the beginning of your pregnancy through the postpartum stage. The midwives specialize in out-of-hospital deliveries, assisting parents both at home or within the Lucina Birth Centre. Above all else, your safety will be at the core of your care. If they feel as though it is necessary, they will transfer you to a hospital and make sure you have the assistance you need. 

Services

When you work with Lucina midwives, all your prenatal care will happen within the clinic. Your provider will be able to perform all lab tests and ultrasounds within the office. During your appointments, they will monitor your baby’s growth. They will also spend time having an open and honest conversation. You are never going to feel rushed throughout your visits. They are going to check on your emotional and mental health, review what you can expect from this stage in pregnancy, and work with you to create a birth plan. The team has all the resources you need to make your plan a reality. 

Through the center, you can sign up for pregnancy classes and rent equipment, including a TENS machine and a birth pool.  During your delivery, your midwife will be by your side, providing you with both emotional and physical support. If you deliver within your house, they will stay there for several hours to clean up, help you with bonding, and make sure you are on the road to recovery!

If you do decide to use their Lucina Midwives birth centre, you will be in a home-like environment for your delivery. They have two spacious suites with large beds and birthing pools. You will have control over your space so you can have the perfect delivery experience.
