Edmonton Midwifery Cooperative is a fabulous group that was started in 2019 by midwives determined to give women more options when it came to their deliveries. They focus their work on the underserved within the community to ensure everyone has access to the care they deserve. Their care is completely funded by Alberta Health Services, breaking down traditional barriers for expecting parents. In the summer of 2024, the group faced a bit of a transformation when it was handed to Sarah Rodger and renamed Edmonton Community Midwives. While things might look a little different these days, they still stick to the same philosophies as when they first opened this center! 

Services

At Edmonton Midwifery Cooperative, they provide you with a warm and comfortable spot where you can receive all of your prenatal care. You will start out as soon as you know you’re pregnant. They work with patients who have low-risk pregnancies to decrease unnecessary medical intervention in delivery. Throughout your pregnancy, you will meet with the same team of midwives to ensure your care remains consistent. During each appointment, your midwife is going to take the time to get to know you so they can help you plan your delivery. 

You will have 24/7 access to your providers outside of any appointments. Their goal is to make sure you feel completely prepared for your delivery! They will provide you with the resources and the education you need to make decisions that honor your body. With this group, you will have your choice of a birthplace, including the hospital or your home. Once your delivery actually starts, they will be by your side, making sure your birth plan is honored. 

Specialty

In addition to their prenatal care, Edmonton Midwifery Cooperative offers drop-in clinics for your well-woman care. They can provide you with pap tests and exams while making sure you retain control of your health!
